- Use white vinegar in wash to help rinse out soap residue and eliminate perspiration odor in Clothing. If you use it regularly odor won’t build up. Great for work out clothing. Also eliminates The need for fabric softener.
- Use a spoon as shoehorn for putting on baby & toddler shoes.
- Keep a small crochet hook on hand to pull shoelaces through eyelets when the tips come off and you don’t have spare shoelaces.
- Heat ½ cup white vinegar in microwave, put in spray bottle and then add equal amount of Original Dawn Dish Detergent. Use to clean soap scum off tub shower – can add peroxide if grout needs whitening. Spray on and leave for 10-15 minutes. Scrub with car wash sponge.
- Homemade Streak Free Glass Cleaner – 2 cups hot water, ¼ cup vinegar, 1 Tablespoon Cornstarch. Put in spray bottle.
- Grease stains on clothes (e.g. butter, salad dressing, gravy) Use Original Dawn Dishwashing Liquid as a pre-spot – Using a small nail brush to work it in helps.
- Use a wire dog brush for cleaning out the bristles on vacuum cleaner floor brush.
- Gum in hair – Work in Peanut Butter or Peanut Oil – comb it out, then shampoo.
- Quick carpet spot remover (e.g. wine, soda, food) Blot up as much as you can then pour on club soda – let fizz, then blot with dry towel. Repeat until spot is gone. I kept club soda on hand when my children were little.
- Buy Dollar bags (100 for a buck). Separate fresh meat into portions, then put all of it in a larger freezer bag. Take out as you need instead of defrosting the whole package.
- Freeze fish submerged in water. Defrost in colander so the water drains off as it defrosts. They won’t get strong tasting or freezer burned.
- If you add olive oil with butter when you saute’, the butter won’t burn as readily and you will still get the butter taste.
- When making fruit salad or doing fruit plates soak fruit for a minute or two in salt water – won’t taste salty but will prevent browning.
- Food or drink stains on your carpet? Pour club soda on the soiled area and let it fizz. Blot it and repeat as necessary.
